The Team's Message - August 2024
Dear Friends,
We hope that autumn has got off to a good start for everyone. We're preparing for the wintering of the boats and we hope that everything will go well without too much bad ‘mechanical’ news.
As far as the marina is concerned, we haven't had any news from Port Croisade, given that Mr Fontes is very ‘busy’ with his problems with VNF. As a reminder, Port Croisade's fees (for opening the port onto the Canal) have risen from €40,000 to €156600. We can understand his exasperation with a state administration that allows itself to quadruple the fee without any justification. Mr Fontès is taking VNF to court, but we're not sure he'll win his case. We didn't think it was reasonable to restart negotiations on the TP02 this year; we're waiting for next year and, above all, for the index to change. It is preferable to wait until things have calmed down on the Port Croisade side.
For this year, the index in August 2023 was 131.5 and in August 2024 it is 132.8, i.e. an increase of 0.99%, well below what we had asked for (a maximum applicable rate limited to 2 or 3% even if the index is higher). This does not mean that we are giving up monitoring developments in this case. In addition, Romain Vidal has confirmed that a discount of 50% of the amount of the increase in the last rent paid will be applied this year.
That's all the latest news.
Good day to you all and take care
With kind regards
The President of the Association and Board of Directors

The origins of jazz
Michel Bastide, an excellent trumpeter, founded the Hot Antic Jazz Band in Nîmes. Passionate about jazz in the 1920s, from New Orleans to Chicago via New York, he travelled the world in contact with the greatest jazzmen, such as Louis Armstrong, with whom he shared his music. His talk will trace the slave-owning reality of the American South at the beginning of the 20th century, and the sources of inspiration and transformation of local music into jazz!
The tour will be presented and commented on, with visual and audio documents - some rare, some unique - from his own collection.
